I'm new at this. My 45-year-old son has persuaded me to give blogging a try. So this journal will improve, with time, hopefully.
I'm old, fat, and a delight to be around, people tell me. I love to laugh. People enjoy my humor, which is never used against others. That hasn't always been the case. I used to be opinionated, idealistic and a real pain in the neck. But my four children and long-suffering husband didn't give up on me. Now, we consider ourselves to be a miracle family, having found one another anew through twelve-step programs.
Since this journal is not on the level of "press, radio, or television," I feel free to tell you that I came into Alcoholic Anonymous in 1985. After a ten year hiatus, I returned. I now attend AA six days a week and sponsor several women. A.A. has become the core of my life. It literally saved our family. We have four grown "children," who have given me a second chance to be both friend and mother to them. And we treasure two grandchildren.
Before A.A. I did not know the difference between religion and spirituality. Today, I have finally managed to make my way back into a church setting, but all religions now are of interest to me. I find spirituality in each. And growing in it the A.A. way is of primary importance to me.
I graduated from Indiana University at age 49. I taught speech and writing at IUPUI, Indiaapolis, for five years before retiring to Colorado, which my husband and I love.
